Topic: Bubble economics – Navigating overvalued markets

The House of Finance is the cornerstone of each year's topic at Campus for Finance New Year's Conference

Financial markets have turned from rapidly escalating to quickly plummeting values and back with increasing frequency and speed. The formation and resolution of asset bubbles have dramatically affected markets around the world. From the hot-money bubbles prior to the 1997 Asian financial crisis to the dotcom bubble to the US subprime crisis to much discussed potential real estate and asset bubbles, asset bubbles defined much of the past 15 years of financial activity.

In a globally connected financial world, bubbles in any location can be felt across the globe. Financial professionals of the near future will need the knowledge to navigate these overvalued assets and manage the increasing international flow of capital. By understanding to apply the knowledge and tools necessary to succeed and thrive in these conditions, investors and policy makers will gain an advantage in a highly competitive world.

The Campus for Finance – Asia Pacific Conference will discuss the implications and opportunities of increasingly frequent asset bubbles – on investors, financial intermediaries, capital-seekers, policy makers and the finance profession as a whole.
