PRIVATE EQUITY 2.0

Redefining the Industry’s Chessboard

On March 29 & 30, 2012 the 7th edition of the Private Equity Conference will take place at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management under the topic “Private Equity 2.0 – Redefining the Industry’s Chessboard”

About three years ago, the financial crisis led to a global economy meltdown. In the frame of high monetary losses and bankrupts industries have been subject to structural changes and some business models even disappeared completely.

Recently, the sovereign debt crisis in the US and in Europe has threatened the world economy and thereby evoked fears of the past again. Our conference will discuss the possible effects of the current events on the Private Equity sector which is still in the process of recovery. Overall, it is the question whether Private Equity can maintain a vehicle for superior performance in a volatile world or whether it is time to redefine the industry’s chessboard with all its consequences:

  • How does the sovereign debt crisis affect the industry?
  • Do shorter and unpredictable economic cycles lead to a change in investment horizons?
  • >20% – Is PE still able to create superior returns or is it time to adjust expectations?
  • What is the value of a strong Private Equity sector for the entire economy?
  • How does regulation affect Private Equity?
  • Is financial engineering still a valuable method to boost profits?
  • What are possible alternatives to the leverage effect?
